Chandel, June 13 2015 :
Most of the villagers of Paraolon and Challong of Chandel district who had fled to the district headquarters and other neighbouring villages in the aftermath of the June 4 ambush on 6 Dogra Regiment, are yet to return home.
However, the IGAR (S) in a statement had claimed a few days ago that all villagers of Paraolon and Challong were not taking flight and that they were living in their native villages.
A combined team of NSCN (K), Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL) and Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) had claimed responsibility for the attack on 6 Dogra Regiment, which killed 18 soldiers.

Paraolon and Challong villagers told Hueiyen Lanpao they fled in fear of torture by Army personnel who are conducting a massive hunt for militants following the attack.
"Livelihood of almost all the villagers is entirely dependent on shifting cultivation.
If we fail to grow crops this season, we may be left in an unimaginable state of hunger," the villagers said.
The villagers are now worried about all livestock that they have left behind home.
"We want no such attacks in future.
The Manipur Government is urged to take steps to restore normalcy in the two villages so that all villagers can return home," they said.
