Swami Vivekananda 150th Birth anniversary celebrated

The 150th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda has been celebrated with a one day workshop on 'the life and works of Swami Vivekananda' at Asha-Jina Complex today.
The celebration function organised by Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, Imphal was held with former Manipur University Vice Chancellor Prof IS Khaidem and former president of the event host Thongram Haridas Singh as the chief guest and president respectively.
Addressing the gathering Prof IS Khaidem described Swami Vivekananda as an exemplary leader of the youth, who always strived to promote physical and mental well-being of the younger generation.
He also called upon the youth to follow in the footsteps of the great leader.
Chief Justice (retired) RK Manisana, who also spoke on the occasion, exuded confidence that through celebration of Swami's birth anniversary it would be helpful to the younger generation of Manipur mend their ways.
Noting that youths of the State in recent times had been indulging in wasteful activities, he said by assessing Swami Vivekananda's activities and contribution to the society Manipuri youngsters could be freed for self-destructive behaviour.
Other speakers, present at the occasion, elaborated on the life and contribution of Swami Vivekananda to the Indian society.
