Scrutiny rejects three in CCpur AC :: Thangmeiband AC to have highest number of polling booths with 35

With the rejection of three candidates out of six Assembly Constituencies, Churachandpur district recorded the highest number of candidates failing to clear the scrutiny of the nomination papers.
Even though the State Directorate of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) could not provide detailed information of the number of candidates rejected during scrutiny conducted at the offices of the respective Returning Officer, sources said one candidate was rejected out of six ACs in Bishnupur while those rejected in Churachandpur district include one Jai Mata Bharti Party and two independent candidates.
DIPR officials also could not establish the total number of candidates who had filed nomination papers in all the 60 ACs of the State.
Contrary to information culled by The Sangai Express, DIPR record suggest that only three candidates remain in fray to contest from Churachandpur Assembly Constituencies.
Out of seven candidates who filed nomination papers for Henglep AC, names of six have been cleared with the rejected candidate said to be a Shiv Sena nominee.

For Tipaimukh AC, which saw six candidates file nomination papers, entry of JMBP candidate has been invalidated during the scrutiny held today, along with other districts.
Nomination papers of all the sitting MLAs have been approved by the respective Returning Officers.
According to information provided by our Tamenglong district correspondent G Pamei, 10 candidates remain in fray for the three Assembly Constituencies of Tamei, Tamenglong and Nungba.
Those eligible to win the confidence of the Tamei electorate include Z Kikhonbou (INC), N Awangbou (MSCP), DP Panmei (AITC) and Athon Abonmai (NPF) while in Tamenglong AC the remaining candidates are Khangthuanang Panmei (INC), Janghemlung Panmei (MSCP) and Samuel Jendai (NPF) .
Nungba AC will be contested by Gaikhangam (INC), Adim Pamei (MSCP) and G Gaingam (NPF).
For Assembly Constituencies under Imphal West district, all the 56 candidates, who filed nomination papers for 13 assembly constituencies in the district, have been cleared to contest in the 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly.
Scrutiny held today at the Lamphelpat office complex of Imphal West Deputy Commissioner cleared names of the candidate aspirants.
Out of the total of 391 polling stations to be setup across the district, Thangmeiband AC electors will cast vote in maximum number of 35 polling stations, while in Singjamei the voters will exercise their franchise in 23 polling stations, the least in the district.
