Puya Meithaba conference concluded

The 4th day long conference on "Puya Meithabada Meeyamgee Wakhallon" (people's intellection on Puya Meithaba) has been concluded today at Lamyanba Shanglen, Konung Mamang.
Organised by ICOP and MNF Kangleipak in commemoration of 283rd anniversary of burning ancient Puya, a seven minute long animation film on Puya Meithaba was also released during the closing function.
Prof N Joykumar, History Department MU, Saikhom Nodia, vice president ICOP, Salam Bharat Bhusan, president, Editors' Forum and A Mobi, president AMWJU have graced the closing function as chief guest, presidium members and guest of honour respectively.
Speaking at the occasion, Prof N Joykumar said that the incident of burning ancient manuscripts is the greatest lost for the Meitei society.
He maintained that people of the State should know the significant influences made by the history events towards the development process of the society.
Proper discussion and understanding on history could help the people in promoting culture, religion and identity, he added.
Salam Bharat Bhusan said that promotion of language, script and identity is possible only when the people take it as their own responsibility.
AMWJU president, A Mobi Singh maintained that organising forums of discussion to bridged the gaps that left vacant by Puya Meithaba incident should be organised besides commemorating the event.
The organising committee of the conference also announced that they are preparing to produce an English to Manipuri Meitei Mayek dictionary at the earliest.
Sairem Nilbir moderated the evening session of the closing day wherein Dr H Indrakumar, HOD of Pol Science, Modern college and Dr TB facilitated the session as resource persons respectively.
