Electricity dawns on Khoibu village

Imphal, February 10 2016:
After being deprived of power for many years, Khoibu village, located under Andro Assembly Cons-tituency will be able to have access to proper supply of electricity starting today.
Social worker K Ning-themjao took up the initiative of installing electric poles and wires in the village so as to solve the problem of electricity shortage.
Delighted over the development, Khoibu village secretary A Bheigyachandra said that the humanitarian deed of social worker Ning-themjao has illuminated the lives of the villagers.
A Bheigyachandra then alleged that MLA Th Shyam-kumar had, before the elec- tion, promised the villagers to provide regular supply of power and drinking water.
Unfortunately, the promises are yet to be fulfilled.

Moreover, the MLA had asked to deposit a sum of Rs 27,000 in order to provide electricity for the villagers.
The villagers therefore sold woods from the village farm and paid the said amount some 4 years back, A Bhei-gyachandra.
Speaking to media persons, social worker K Ning- themjao said that he had undertaken the initiative from his own pocket with a hope to solve the hardship of the villagers.
"Students would be soon appearing in the HSLC exam.
I hope the assistance provided would surely motivate and encourage the students to work hard and excel academically," K Ningthemjao added.
On the other hand, MLA Th Shyamkumar has refuted the allegation made the Khoibu village secretary.
The MLA maintained that he had not accepted any amount for providing electricity to the villagers.
"An MLA has no power to give electricity connection.
MSPDCL has to first take up necessary process and formalities along with the village concerned.
The villagers had actually requested to provide power connection after which a power transformer was provided.
Lack of proper submission of required documents at the time of consumer registration process must be the main reason behind the delay of power connection," the MLA asserted.
