Imphal, February 08, 2012:
Greeting the people on the 25th anniversary of the MPA, the armed wing of the UNLF, the Central Committee of the outfit has today asserted that the armed struggle is the pivot on which the revolutionary struggle should rest.
Greeting the people on the occasion, the Military Affairs Committee in a statement said that though revolutionary movements entail many other aspects, the armed movement is the main option to over throw the alien rule.
Citing the examples of the recent sweeping change of regimes in the Arab world, the outfit said that though there were democratic forms of protest against the regimes, ultimately it was the use of military strength that ousted the regimes.
The West knows this every well, said the outfit and recalled how it used its air power as well as military strength to over throw some regimes in the Arab world recently.
Till date the MPA has engaged the security forces of India in about 160 battles, said the outfit and added that in the process it has been able to inflict heavy damages on the alien ruler.
The battles are but just a part of the struggle to reclaim the lost sovereignty of the land and the people, it expounded further.
The lessons learnt from the battles have been imbibed, said the MAC and added that it is with the belief that it can carry on the armed struggle that is the driving spirit behind the MPA cadres.
Acknowledging that the struggle derives its strength from the people, UNLF said that the final goal can be achieved when there is perfect synergy between the public and the struggle.
For over 50 years, since 1958, the Government of India has been relying on AFSPA to keep its rule going on, observed the outfit and questioned what type of a Government is it that governs on the basis of the inputs received from the military.
The continued imposition of AFSPA is a clear indication that Delhi does not trust the people of Manipur, who are different, racially and culturally and is a clear manifestation of the attempt to annihilate the people.
This is apartheid, it added.
It is only the collective strength of the people which can save them and the land, said the outfit and added that everywhere it has been the strength of the people which has ushered in changes, politically, economically and socially.
Time for the people to live up to their potential.
The Manorama episode of 2004 compelled in a change in the policy of India, said UNLF and added that after their atrocities under AFSPA were exposed before the international fora, the dirty job has been passed on to the State police.
This is the main reason why so much stress has been laid on police modernisation, it said.
After 2004, the hands of the killers changed for the world to see, said UNLF and cited the instances of Naobi in 2006 and the July 23, 2009 BT road incident as damning proofs.
These are clear indications of how the State police commandos have fallen into the trap laid by the security forces of India.
To tarnish the image of the revolutionary movement, the puppet Government has been leaving no stones unturned in manufacturing a number of counter revolutionaries and reactionaries, noted UNLF but added that such ploys will never discourage them from carrying on with their mission of liberating the land and the people.
It is in line with the wishes of the people and the need to take the revolutionary movement forward that seven groups have come together to form the CorCom, said the statement.
Shinghat Operation which was carried out in January this year at Churachandpur by a collective team of the PLA, Red (Prepak-Pro) and MPA was the first step towards carrying out a united struggle, said the statement.
It was under the agreed policy of the CorCom which says that it would work together where possible, two or three constituent members can carry out an operation or even one member can carry out a strike, that the MPA launched the attack on the security forces at Aishi village at Ukhrul district.
In the said strike, the MPA cadres managed to snatch some weapons from the SF.
The UNLF also offered its salute to all fellow revolutionary outfits on the occasion.
