Negligence slur on Govt, bus owner

Family members of the victims who lost their lives or sustained injuries in the bus accident which took placed at Piphima in Nagaland on January 5 last Charged the government of Manipur of mot acknowledgement of their plights even as the bus owner have gone hiding instead of coming to their help.
A joint meeting of the victims' families, representatives of Network Travels and All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU) was held at the office of the Union here today.
Talking to mediapersons after the meeting, Salauddin, a family member of Rafijuddin of Lilong Usoipokpi who was killed in the accident, recounted that in all 10 passengers lost their lives while 33 others sustained injuries when bus (Network Travels, MN01-1833) met with the accident at Piphima on January 5 last.
Although the Government of Nagaland has provided Rs 50,000 each to the deceased victims and Rs 20,000 each to the injured victims, the Government of Manipur has not provided any assistance so far.
In fact, the bodies of the accident victims were also brought to Imphal with the help of Nagaland Government, Salauddin lamented.
Identifying the owner of the ill-fated bus as one Kheirudin of Lilong Usoipokpi, Salauddin pointed out that the bus owner too has not yet visited any of the family members of the victims and has gone into hiding.
General Secretary of AMSU Dipanjit Ningthoujam described the Government of Manipur attitude towards the accident victims as despicable.
The government should at least show some concern and provide necessary compensation.
The government should also arrest the owner of the bus who went into hiding instead of visiting the family members of the victims.
Dipanjit informed that another around of joint meeting would be held at AMSU office on Saturday at 11 am to discuss and chalk out further course of action.
