Imphal, April 06 2011:
In the continue attack at houses of individuals, suspected UGs set-off a bomb at the house of nephew of the social welfare minister N Loken.
A hand grenade was also placed at the gate of the nursing institute of Rural Development Organisation (RDO), reports said.
The explosion at the house of Oinam Premjit @ Inaocha, nephew of minister N Loken, at Leimapokpam Awang Leikai occurred around the midnight last night.
No casualty was reported in the blast, however, damages were caused to a JCB parked at the front courtyard of the house.
Decrying the act of the suspects, womenfolk of the locality today staged a sit-in protest, starting from 10 am till 4 pm.
The bomb at the gate of the nursing institute of RDO at Lamdeng Makha Leikai under Lamshang PS was detected by the security guard of the institute this morning around 5 am.
It was later safely defused by the personnel of the state police bomb detection and disposal squad around 8 am.
Denouncing the bomb threat, trainee nurses, teachers and staff of the institute staged a sit-in protest today at the premises of the institute.
Meanwhile, a statement issued by W Malemnganba Meitei, secretary publicity and propaganda of the Kangleipak Communist Party (Maoist), Manipur said that the nursing institute of the RDO run by MLA W Brabidhu has been banned for forever.
A decision regarding the matter has been resolved by the group, said the statement alleging Brajabidhu of passing wrong information to the police to arrest a man from Taothong.
Apart from this, the MLA also spread propaganda of being the Maoist having link with police to the Meira Paibi.
