Imphal, September 01 2015:
Taking serious note of the violent reactions to the three Bills passed by the Manipur State Assembly yesterday with the primary objective of providing a Constitutional safeguard to the indigenous people of Manipur, AMUCO, UCM and the Committee on Civil Society Kangleipak (CCSK) have appealed to all the community leaders for a joint dialogue in order to address the issue collectively.
Speaking to media persons at the Lamphelpat office of UCM this evening, the three civil society organisations remarked that the Churachandpur incident was disheartening.
AMUCO vice-president Ph Deban appealed for a joint meeting between community leaders of both the hills and the valley so as to remove all types of misunderstandings.
He also appealed to all the people who have been using social media sites not to post provocative or communal remarks and comments.
UCM vice-president Sunil Karam pointed out that Manipur is for the all the indigenous communities, not for any single community.
Urging the Government to take up necessary measures to bring the volatile situation under control, Sunil appealed to all police personnel not to treat protesters like enemies in their attempts to control any protest agitation.
CCSK vice-president Chingkheinganbi Nameirakpam asserted that Manipur is the only home for all the hill people and plain people living within its boundary.
