3 more die in CCPur protest

At least three more protesters have been reported dead and scores injured in Churachandpur Town on the second day of protest against the introduction and passing of three Bills particularly The Protection of Manipur Peoples Bill, 2015 and The Manipur Land Revenues & Land Reforms (7th Amendment) Bill, 2015 on August 31 by the Manipur Legislative Assembly.
According to sources, three persons were killed in alleged police firing when an angry crowd tried to storm the Police Station and set it on fire on Tuesday.
The deceased have been identified as Khaizamang (12), son of late Haokhothang of Bijang; Khamthianmuan (22), son of Kamkhenthang of Pearsonmun; Zamminthang Valte (27), son of late V Vungkhojam of College Veng, New Lamka.
The last two victims succumbed to bullet injuries on the spot, sources infomred.

Meanwhile, one more charred body was found inside MLA T Manga Vaiphei's residence.
The MLA's house was set ablaze by the protesters on Monday night.
The victim has been identified as Henlalson (19), son of M Khaikhothang of IB Road Chiengkonpang.
With the three, the death toll in the protest has now climbed to seven.
Tension erupted in Churachandpur Town even after the promulgation of 144 CrPC by the District Magistrate Churachandpur.
Currently, curfew has been imposed by the administration till Wednesday 5 am and the same is likely to be extended depending on the situation.
On Monday night, a BSF ambulance and one 407 police truck were set on fire by irate protesters.
Source said that Assam Rifles (AR) personnel also had to resort to firing on Monday night to disperse a crowd.

On Tuesday, several women's organisations in Churachandpur areas were making attempts to bring back normalcy in the affected localities.
Meanwhile, Kuki Students Organisation (KSO), Churachandpur District information and publicity secretary Minlal Gangte has urged the State Government to "immediately reconsider the Bills." Speaking to media persons at Kuki Khanglai Lawmpi (KKL) office, Minlal appealed the Governor of Manipur not to give his assent to the Bills and sought the Centre's immediate intervention.
He informed, "We have started our agitation on Monday against the Manipur Government for passing the bills in a very peaceful manner but after our representatives could not speak for us in the Assembly, we had to burn down their houses" .
"We felt that this Bill will disrupt tribal rights which our forefather enjoyed.
We will continue our agitation until our demands are met." He said the people have lost faith in the State Government.
