Imphal, September 01 2015:
After infu-riated mobs ransacked and set ablaze houses, vehicles and other properties of Ministers, MLAs and the MP at Chura-chandpur and Sadar Hills last night, KSO Chandel has called indefinite bandh at Moreh.
On account of the bandh, there was no vehicular movement on Imphal-Moreh high- way and Moreh township wore a completely deserted look.
Moreover, several vehicles have been stranded at different points along Imphal- Moreh highway.
Meanwhile, bandh supporters set afire a newly con- structed police barrack which is yet to be inaugurated near Kondong Lairembi complex this afternoon.
There was no movement of people in Moreh township except security personnel.
All the markets and shops remained shut.
As they were unaware of the bandh called by KSO Chandel, around 60 vehicles were stranded at Tengnoupal unable to turn back or proceed further.
The vehicles somehow turned back and reached Pallel later afternoon, informed a source.
Around 200 vehicles which were heading toward Imphal from Moreh are still stranded at Tengnoupal.
So far, there has been no report of any untoward incident except the arson which targeted the police barrack.
