Editcpox Health Care Division, enlivened the spirit of Khonghampat locals with the opening of a health clinic at Khonghampat Awang Leikai today.
The area has been longing for a medical facility since past many years.
To multiply the spirit, a free medical camp was also organised in connection with the inauguration function in which 150 people have been provided medical treatment by two doctors supported by two paramedical staff of the clinic.
Khonghampat Gram Panchayat Pradhan Haobijam Manihar and social worker Laishram Kula graced the occasion as chief guest and president respectively in the inauguration function.
Local elders Thounaojam Yaima and Dr Laishram Brajamandan were also members of the dais in the function as guests of honour.
Editcpox co-ordinator Kh Gyaneshwar said that the clinic has been opened in view of the inconvenience being faced by the locals of Khonghampat and its adjoining areas due to inadequate medical facilities.
Although, the area is not so far from the State capital, there is no proper medical facility which can attain the patients in emergency, Gyaneshwar said.
A local man said that people of Khonghampat Khunou, Khaman, Loitang Khullen, Pheidinga and Maharabi have to travel to Koirengei even for minor medical examinations compelling them to shell out extra money.
