General secretary of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) who contested election to the 9th Assembly in Yaiskul A/C as party nominee has resigned from the party with another active member and former candidate of the IMC allegedly after the party asked them to support Congress candidate in the ensuing bye-election to the Yaiskul Assembly Constituency.
RK Ibechoubi who contested in the IMC election from ward no.14 also resigned from the party.
Confirming the resignation from the party, general secretary of RJD, state unit Huidrom Binodkumar briefing to media persons said he had contested the last Assembly election in 2007 with the intention of serving the people as RJD nominee.
He was not thinking of contesting the bye-election.
But as hope of fielding a common candidate on the opposition side seems to be far behind, he appraised the party president MLA, Md Hellaluddin for his candidature but for instead of getting positive response, he asked him to extend support to Congress candidate.
He also observed that if the opposition parties not able to field a common candidate, it is sure to win the bye-election by the Congress.
At the same time, he also rule out joining to a party which has no its ideology.
