The Narcotics Control Bureau has destroyed 4308 Kgs of contraband ganja seized from different parts of the State over the last three years.
NCB Regional Director (North East regional unit) Vijay Shahasane said that the quantity of ganja destroyed yesterday was the largest in its record and was worth Rs one crore in local market.
But its monetary value would be around Rs 100 crores in international illicit market.
Altogether 46 persons were pulled up together with the contraband ganja totalling up to 4308 Kgs.
One of them has been convicted and sentenced to 10 years imprisonment.
While some of them have been released, other are being detained as undertrial prisoners, Viajay Shahasane said.
The huge pile of ganja was set afire and disposed off at Lamphelpat yesterday.
