Tension prevailed at Kwakta between two communities arising out of an alleged attempt to molest a woman by a man of different community eased following a meeting convened today under the initiative of the Peace Committee formed in the wake of eruption of the tension in the presence of three MLAs.
The meeting to discuss on the incident occurred on October 22 which arose out of alleged attempt to molest a woman at Kwakta Uku under Moirang police station was convened at the Shanthong Community hall, Moirang.
MLAs of Moirang A/C, M Prithivraj, Kumbi A/C, N Mangi and Lilong A/C Md Hellaluddin attended the meeting.
In the meeting co-convener of the Peace Committee, Md Latif and social worker L Nabachandra informed the gathering that the communal tension was erupted owing to misunderstanding and communication gap among the people of the two communities and based on remour that spread around in the aftermath of the incident.
Co-convener, Md Latif appealed the people of both the communities to forgive each other in future taking that such incident occurred between the brothers and sisters residing in the area together.

Nabachandra also observed that the incident occurred was occurred due to remour and communication gap among the people of the two communities.
Let's try to prevent such unfortunate incident, he appealed.
MLAs taking part in the meeting agreed to bring out expenditures incurred in the treatment of injure victims of the incident including that of seriously injured Thongbam Kesho.
The meeting also appealed authorities not to make any arrest or search for villagers with regard to the incident.
Speaking at the meeting, MLA N Mangi observed that confrontation between two groups of people following different religions is dangerous than that of fire break out incident but luckily lost off life, burning down of houses and properties was not occurred in the recent clash.
Md Hellauddin expressed thanks to the effort of the Peace Committee in the effort to ease the tension arising out of the incident around one month and some days and lauded the role took part by the two MLAs of Moirang and Kumbi as well as chief minister, O Ibobi in easing the tension prevailed.
MLA, M Prithivraj also appealed that the recent incident be the end observing that the tension that erupted between the resident of Kwakta Santhong and Kwakta Uku has delayed in taking developmental works in the area.
