Imphal, April 28 2009:
In connection with the demand of the CPI and the MPP for repolling in some of polling stations of the election to the Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency held on April 22, Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of the State Shambhu Singh would be meeting the Chief Election Commissioner Navin Chawla tomorrow.
Alleging that mass poll rigging and proxy voting among other malpractices have been resorted to by the Congress party during the election, CPI has demanded repolling in 16 polling stations and MPP in 11 others.
According to an official source, during the meeting with the Chief Election Commissioner tomorrow, CEO is expected to submit a detailed report on the allegations of the two parties.
Matter related to the agitation being launched by the MPP over the issue is also likely to be brought to the notice of the Chief Election Commissioner during the meeting, the source added.
Meanwhile, as the report submitted by the Deputy Commissioner of Thoubal in connection with registration of 100 percent polling in polling station no.35/32-Athokpam (C) of Khangabok Assembly Constituency during the election to the Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency on April 16 was not satisfactory, the office of the Chief Electoral Officer has yet again sought a special from the Deputy Commissioner.
