The Meetei Erol Eyek Loinasillon Apunba Lup (MEELAL) today warned that if any of the government run schools are found teaching no Meetei Mayek, the body will cut six month salaries of the employees of the education department.
Giving a briefing to the media persons today, education secretary of MEELAL, RK Jiten said when volunteers of body conducted a drive to the schools in Imphal east district, two schools, Manmohon Primary School, Kongba and Kameng Primary School, Nongada were found not teaching Meetei Mayek.
Meetei Mayek was found not teaching to the students of Standard IV and V at Manmohon School while at Standard V to the students at the school at Kameng, he observed.
The said schools are under the ZEO,zone-II, Imphal east.
During an enquiry into the matter of not switching the teaching, the headmaster of the Kameng Primary School informed that it was due to non-supply of the Meetei Mayek text books for the Standard V.So, the ZEO concern should clarified within five days the reason behind the supply of the same till date.
He also said that the ZEO during an interaction with the ZEO zone-II,Imphal east has also assured of supplying the text books within the next three days.
The ZEO further revealed that the non-availability of the Meetei Mayek text books as due to the failure on the part of the state government to released funds for the central sponsored Sarva Siksha Abhiyan scheme.
Another reason behind the delay in the supply of the text book under the SSA scheme is different in the scheduled for commencement of the session which in the state it was started in February while SSA schools started in April.
In the continuing drive of the MEELAL, if any school be found not switching Meetei Mayek, the body will take up action against those employees of the education department responsible for, Jiten warned.
He further warned organizers of the function who are not displaying banner with Meetei Mayek that if any function be found not following the MEELAL's request, the banners will be drag down and burnt.
