THE VISITING NEC Secretary UK Sangma today expressed satisfaction over the progress of NEC-funded projects undertaken in the state.
Addressing media persons today at the Shija Hospital and Research Institute, Langol, UK Sangma, who arrived at Imphal yesterday on a three day visit to the state, expressed happiness over the execution of works under NEC funding in state.
He told the media persons that Rs 50 crore would be sanctioned for the construction of Tamenglong-Tamei road.
Besides, the Manipur Government has decided to forward its proposal for the construction of another road.
Sangma also gave his assurance to sanction the required funds as soon as the project is forwarded.
He said that the NEC cannot sanction funds to private firms directly.
He said that the firm and the state government must first discuss the feasibility and then submit the projects.
Based on the project submitted after discussion and consultation with the state government, the NEC will then decide whether to sanction the fund or not, he said.
He said no project has been so far forwarded regarding Shija Hospital, Sangma said.
He was accompanied today by the Principal Secretary, DS Poonia and Planning Adviser PS Thangkuisu.
Managing Director of Shija Hospital and Research Institute, Dr Palin told reporters that the Shija Hospital is seeking funding from the NEC to achieve some of its projects including a Nursing College, a Blood Bank, and Children and Women Hospital.
He said that all the projects have been given approval by the Manipur government.
