Imphal, April 23 2021:
Pointing out that Manipur is a very small State with a total population of just around 27 lakh, YAS and Water Resources Minister Letpao Haokip has appealed to all concerned to stop stirring communal tension.
Speaking to a section of media persons at his Aihang residence this afternoon, Letpao Haokip said that while the Chief Minister has been talking with UKAL, Mahousa Kanba Lup and other organisations to resolve the issue of Mount Koubru amicably, he, as a Kuki Minister, has been talking with Kuki organisations.
"We should work to bring the best solution by talking to every stakeholder", he said.
"One should stop inciting communal tension and rumour mongering.
Instead, everyone must focus on finding a solution", Letpao said.
"On the advice of the Chief Minister, I invited representatives of the Committee on Protection and Preservation of Mount Koubru.
Forest and Environment Minister Awangbow Newmai was also invited to the same meeting in the interest of Liangmei and other communities", he said.
The Government would not be influenced by any comment and post uploaded by some youngsters on social media, asserted the YAS Minister.
After it was mutually accepted that there was no harm in publishing what was agreed at the meeting in media, the Committee on Preservation and Protection of Mount Koubru issued a press statement, he said.
Letpao Haokip further exuded confidence that there would be a solution, acceptable to all stakeholders.
