Manipur Loumi Lup opposes increase in fertiliser price

Manipur Loumi Lup said the Government should roll back its decision to increase price of fertilisers.
The present Government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi had increased the price of Diammonium Hydrogen Phosphate (DAP) from Rs 700 per 50kg bag to Rs 1900 for the same, NPK-1 to Rs 36,500 from Rs 23,500 per tonne and NPK-2 to Rs 36,000 from Rs 23,700 per ton and the rate of electricity has also been increased which altogether has put tremendous amount of undue pressure upon the farmers, said a statement issued by Manipur Loumi Lup.
In addition to these, the continuous rise of price of petroleum product has also taken a toll on farmers who relies on diesel or petrol run pumps for watering their fields, added the statement.
Manipur Loumi Lup expressed dissatisfaction at the decisions taken up by the Government which will only underscore the development of farming communities rather than increased their standard of living.
The statement added that the farmers and everyone else are facing the hardship of the pandemic and the Government should immediately roll back their decision to increase price of the fertilisers and rate of electricity.
