CCpur, April 23 2021:
At least six shops and a roof top residence was gutted by a raging inferno early today at Tuibong Bazar, Churachandpur.
The fire whose origin is still not known began sometime about 1 am today, according to sources.
People who were awakened by the fire along with the district Fire Department struggled to control the fire but only a few could be saved due to the sheer intensity of the inferno.
A fire tender from Moirang also reached the spot to help fight the fight as one of the two fire tenders stationed at Churachandpur reportedly suffered technical glitches and could not join the fight.
Water tankers from the police and BSF too joined the fire fight to keep the fire tenders running.
Properties worth about Rs 65 lakh are estimated to have been charred in the fire that reduced three food hotels, two handloom stores and a garment store room.
