Rs 47 lakh seized in Peren

After news of two Naga People's Front (NPF) candidates � state home minister Imkong L.Imchen and Nyemli Phom were held with huge cash along with arms, 15 Mahila B Company IR held two women for carrying cash worth Rs.47 lakh which were reportedly meant to be used during elections in Peren Tuesday.
The two women were apprehended by the Mahila IR personnel while on a Motor Vehicle Check Point (MVCP) .
When contacted DC Peren, Imti Ao told Nagaland Post that the two women, Azuna Zeliang wife of late Atu serving as head assistant in SDEO Peren and Mrs Kikwetna, wife of late Namteibeung both from Ndipuiram colony, Peren Town were caught with the cash drawn from SBI Peren.
As per the statement of the duo, the money was meant for one GB at Peren town, DC added.
Sources from Peren also said that amount was given on February 19 to the two women by a brother of an NPF candidate who was also a minister in the DAN cabinet.
According to a reliable source, the amount was drawn from the account of "Eastern Fireworks" .
According to police, the cash include 2200 notes of five hundred denomination amounting to 11 lakh and 3600 notes of one thousand denomination amounting to Rs.36 lakh.
NPF Phek general secy held with cash
Troops of 7 Assam Rifles Tuesday apprehended one NPF Phek unit general secretary along with cash worth around Rs.8 lakhs.
Security officials said that 7 AR personnel upon frisking seized the amount and detained the party worker for interrogation.
No further details could be ascertained till the time of filing the report.
After seizure of arms, ammunition and cash police as well as security forces have been put on high alert all over the state.
