Minister Okendro assures State Cultural Policy

The 3rd North East Theatre Festival, 2013, which was organized by NT Theatre, Manipur under the joint sponsorship of Department of Art and Culture and Manipur State Kala Akademi concluded at the auditorium of NT Theatre at Changangei today.
The valedictory function was attended by Education Minister Moirangthem Okendro; Theatre Director Naba Wareppa and Shumang Leela Director Birjit Ngangomba as Chief Guest, President and Guest of Honour respectively.
Speaking on the occasion Minister Okendro observed that the contribution of theatre in bringing about social change is immense.
Theatre artists and activists, who are trying to show the right path to the people, should not be harassed or tortured mentally and emotionally at any cost.
It is because of them that the culture of Manipur is known to the outside world.
Informing the gathering that he would discuss issues related to establishment of a cultural policy in the State, Minister M Okendro noted that the beautiful culture and tradition of the State seems to be at the threshold of declination today.
The people of the State should understand the importance of culture and tradition passed down by their forefathers and makes every possible effort to preserve and promote this cultural heritage.
Integrity in Manipur should be brought about through culture, he exhorted.
