Imphal, June 18 2010:
In commemoration of the eighteen martyrs who sacrificed their lives to protect the territorial integrity of Manipur on June 18, 2001, the Voluntary Helpline Unit Committee, RIMS Hospital organized today a blood donation camp at the Blood Bank of the Hospital.
The camp was inaugurated by the Medical Superintendent of RIMS, Dr..YMohen at 10 in the morning.
This camp has been organised consecutively for ninth times by the Voluntary Helpline Unit Committee.
Altogether 45 persons coming from different parts of Manipur donated their blood.
Out of the 45 persons 6 are females and 39 males.
Dr..YMohen emphasized the importance of organising such kind of voluntary blood donation camps.
Such camps will provide blood to those emergency victims of both natural and man-made disasters and also of national uprisings like the June Uprising of 2001 .
Certificates will be distributed to the donors on coming 20th June by the Committee on the occasion of its ninth foundation day.
