Imphal, June 18 2010:
Chief Minister, O Ibobi today convened a meeting with the deputy commissioners of all districts and reviewed the progress of ongoing census operation in the state.
In the meeting held at the Chief Minister's secretariat at 1.30 pm, the Chief Minister asked the DCs to supervise the enumerators to check from doubling in the house listing, counting of headset during the census operations.
The director of census operation Manipur and other officials of the office also took part in the meeting; an official source said adding that DCs tabled progress reports of the operations in their respective districts.
Mention may be made that as per announcement made by the Government of India National Population Registration (NPR) exercise is also part of the census operation.
The authority of Census Operations Manipur had already started operation from June 1 .
The first phase census operation will continue till July and utilizing 5664 enumerators, 1021 supervisors, 40 officers in-charge and 172 master trainers in the exercise.
In the meeting the Chief Minister asked the officials discharge their duty with sincere and honesty so that exact information which would be helpful in taking up developmental works and implementation of various government sponsored welfare schemes.
