Imphal, June 18 2010:
At the time of collecting the samples of the alleged adulterated petrol from PCTC at Khoyathong by the Department of Consumers' Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, the norms of IOC had not been followed nor the oil pump has been penalised According to a reliable source, following the allegation that adulterated petrol is being sold at PCTC, Department of Consumers' Affairs, Food and Public Distribution had collected the samples of the fuel for verification.
However, the sample was not collected in the container provided by the IOC nor proper labelling of the place and time of collecting the samples followed.
The oil tank from where the alleged adulterated petrol had been detected should also have been seized at the time of collecting the samples.
However, no such steps have been taken up and the entire content has been sold to the public.
The district administration and the police have started probing the case and the current restriction on supplying petrol to PCTC may be the penalty imposed by the Dept.
