Imphal, June 18 2010:
Even as a meeting convened by the Zeliangrong Interim Body (ZIB) decried decision of the State Government to take over charge of National Highway-53 from the Border Roads Organisation (BRO), about 450 vehicles left Jiribam sub-division today.
Till the time of filing this report, the vehicles with security escorts and comprising of passenger carriers as well as goods laden trucks have crossed Sibilong of Tamenglong district.
To ensure safe passage of these vehicles, commando teams of Imphal West district have been despatched to Noney since morning today, said an informed source.

Meanwhile, with reference to the taking over responsibility of development of NH-53, ZIB convenor Ningthoudai Gonmei has questioned credibility of the Works Department contending that the State agency is well known for its inefficiency.
The ZIB also expressed desire that the BRO continue to look after the Imphal-Silchar route and not by the 'corrupt PWD'.
The meeting was attended by representatives of All Zeliangrong Students' Union (Assam, manipur & Nagaland), Zeliangrong Youth Front and Zeliangrong Students' union (Manipur).
The ZIB convened session also decided to hold a Zeliangrong public convention at Peren district of Nagaland on July 30 and conveyed invitation to all Zeliangrong leaders to attend the convention.
