Nagaland Govt announces Rs 10 lakh award for Mary Kom

Ace women boxer MC Mary Kom will get Rs 10 lakh award from the government of Nagaland.
On Wednesday, chief minister of Nagaland Neiphiu Rio announced a cash award of Rs 10 lakh to Olympic bronze medalist MC Mary Kom.
The government of Nagaland also announced the same reward for Vijay Kumar for winning a silver in shooting.
Rio's media media secretary Abu Metha informed Newmai News Network last night that the Nagaland government has extended the congratulations to the Indian Olympic contingent for its performance at the just concluded London Olympic Games.
Abu Metha said the chief minister has extended special congratulations to Mary Kom, who hails from Manipur in north eastern India and won a bronze medal in women's boxing .
Neiphiu Rio observed that her achievement is highly commendable and she has brought pride and glory to the whole country.
Her feat should inspire the youth of the country to strive for excellence and success at the highest levels, Rio's message stated.
"Shri Neiphiu Rio, who is the President of the Nagaland Olympic Association, also congratulated Vijay Kumar who won silver medal in shooting at the Olympic Games and is from the Dogra Regiment presently located at 3 Corps in Rangapahar, under Dimapur district of Nagaland," Abu Metha said.
Meanwhile, the Government of Nagaland on Wednesday conferred the first Dr..TAo Sports Award to Ms Chekrovolu Swuro which carries a cash incentive of Rs.10 lakhs.
She was also given an additional Rs.25 lakhs for becoming an Olympian.
Ms.Chekrovolu had represented India in women's archery at the London Olympics.
