Students staged sit-in at Jiri

A sit-in was held today in front of the Jiribam Higher Secondary School to register protest against the alleged lack of Commerce teacher and irregularities of some teachers posted in the School.
The sit-in, was held under the aegis of Jiribam Higher Secondary School Students' Union.
Placards reading 'Save the lives of students,' 'we want education,' 'we don't want to agitate,' 'no class can be taken without teachers,' 'give us teachers immediately,' 'we want peace,' 'students of Jiribam are students of Manipur,' etc were displayed during the sit-in.
Secretary of the studennts; union, YK Kabir lamented that no response has been given by the Government authority to the union's demand for adequate teachers in the school.
He said a teacher each of English, Geography, Engineering and Crawing and two contract lecturers of Commerce have been found to be absent since long time back.
The students heard that the teachers are drawing their salary regularly from their home in Imphal, the students do not even see the faces of an English teacher and one contract Commerce teacher, Kabir rued.
Earlier the students' union had submitted a memorandum to the Education Minister in this regard.
