Taxi operators decry extortion

Unable to bear anymore due to rampant extortion by certain outfits, the taxis plying between Imphal and Lamka (district headquarters of Manipur south district Churachandpur) have decided to protest tomorrow.
The All Lamka Taxi Owners Society (ALTOS) which operates Tata Wingers service between Churachandpur to Imphal is organising a sit-in protest on Friday from 11 am to 3 pm at Peace Ground in Tuibuong (Churachandpur) in protest against what it terms as "an unreasonable and unbearable monetary demands of certain gang like organisation existing only in name " from the taxis.
According to ALTOS, there are so many groups claiming as true revolutionary parties and then put up a demand to the transporters.
"But when we further inquired such a group does not exist and it was found further that some people made the demand in the name of revolutionary party," alleged the ALTOS.
The transporters' body then said they could no longer bear the rampant cases of extortion notes been served to them by these so called revolutionary outfits.
ALTOS also said that everyone should be allowed to carry out his or her business without being disturbed from any angle.
The transporters' union then appeals the concerned authorities to address their plights at the earliest.
