Multiplying farmers' income opportunities stressed

A seminar on Multiplying Farmers' Income Opportunities in Animal Husbandry and Processing of Organic Pig and Fish Products - Potential for Exports - Focus North East, was held today at Hotel Classic.
The seminar was jointly organised by PHD Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MOFPI), and North Eastern Council, Government of India.
Encouraging the works and initiatives taken up by PHD Chamber of Commerce & Industry, chief guest of the function, Minister of Fisheries, Hill & Tribal Area Department, N Kayishii said that unemployment problem among the youth is on the rise with each year.
He said that the unemployment issue poses a challenge to the society and the Government or to the society cannot be blamed for this.
He asserted that the issue can be solved if each and every citizen takes up the responsibility to respond in whatever capacity feasible to address the problem.
He also said that North East region is richly placed in many unique ways and we need to delve into it and find out the ways and means to address the challenges we face.
The seminar is a platform between the academician, industrialist and the Government facilitating discussion on topical issues in agri-business and food processing.
The seminar will be helpful for the farmers and entrepreneurs in imparting awareness for self-employment generation among the unemployed youths particularly in Manipur, he added.
