WAD demands justice for minor rape victim

Women Action for Development (WAD) today condemned the inaction by the Bishnupur Police in connection with the alleged kidnapping and gang rape of a minor girl (12) by an allaged minor along with three other friends on the night of February 13 at around 6:30 pm somewhere in Bishnupur district.
WAD appealed the Chief Minister, Social Welfare Minister & Law Minister for immediate intervention to arrest and punish all the perpetrators involved in the crime committed towards the minor girl.
Alleging that the police were insensitive in handling the case, the WAD appealed the Government to sensitize and train all the police personnel on women and child related laws.
It further appealed the Government and concerned authorities to book the accuse and the three accomplice under POCSO Act 2012.According to the family of the victim the minor girl was found half naked.
The victim's family members had filed a written complaint to the Bishnupur Women Police Station to investigate the incident.
As a result of the complaint the Women Police Station had lodged an FIR bearing FIR No 4(2) 2018 WPS Bishnupur U/S 363/354 A/ 34 IPC, said a statement issued by the WAD.
The age of the accused is 22 years as per the electoral roll but on the other hand it was learned that the accused is a minor according to his Aadhaar card.
An ossification test is in need to find out the truth and deliver justice to the victim, the statement further said.
The WAD further said that it condemn the fact that both the victim and the accuse were taken together for the medical examination by the police at RIMS Forensic Department on February 16.Such act of the police shows the negligence and insensitiveness in the handling of the case, WAD said.
Meanwhile a JAC has been formed and has demanded justice for the minor girl.
