Guru Abhiramshaba Sharma Award presented

Renowned Nat Sankirtan artist Leimapokpam Lakpati Singh was today conferred with Guru Abhiramshaba Sharma Award, 2018 in a solemn function held at Shri Shri Radha Yugalkishore Mandap, Kwakeithel Mayai Koibi in connection with the death anniversary of Late Guru Abhiram Shaaba Sharma.
The function was graced by Padmashree awardee Aribam Shyam Sharma as chief guest; Padmashree awardee Sougaijam Thanil Singh as president; Padmashree awardee Thouranisabi Devi; Dr Jamini Devi, retired Chairperson, Manipur State Commission for Women and Aribam Chiteshwar Sharma, Sahitya Akademi awardee as guests of honor.
Guru Abhiram Shaaba Sharma Award has been presented annually to renowned Nat Sankirtan artists/singers.
The award is dedicated to late Guru Kongbrailatpam Ibomcha Sharma fondly known as Abhiram Shaaba Sharma by his son retired Lt Colonel Kongbrailatpam Guneswar Sharma and his wife Kongbrailatpam (O) Satyabati Devi.
Several resource persons spoke on the remarkable contributions made by Abhiram Shaaba in the field of Goura Lila and Nat Sankirtan.
Paying of floral tributes to the portrait Guru Abhiram Shaaba Sharma marked the occasion.
Leimapokpam Lakpati Singh is also the recipient of Sangeet Natak Akademi Award (2001) and Manipur State Kala Akademi Award (1997).He was born to Leimapokpam Herachandra Singh and Ibemhal Devi of Kwakeithel Nganappi Thong, Imphal West.
