Education Minister L Jayentakumar has given his assurance that the services of teachers appointed on contract basis for schools in the hill areas of the state will be extended before the end of November and he has also tagged on to release the pending salary of the contract basis teachers within this month, according to the All Tribal Students' Union Manipur (ATSUM).
This has been assured by the Minister to the representatives of the ATSUM in a meeting held with the students' body yesterday at the Minister's official bungalow at Babupara, said the ATSUM.
The Minister has also pledged to address the issue of part time lecturers in Government higher secondary schools on war footing while promising to initiate for speeding up of Lecturers' recruitment process in Govt colleges and higher secondary schools during the course of discussion held between the Minister and the students' delegates, the ATSUM added said.
The ATSUM statement issued by its general secretary Thomas Taishya also conveyed the Minister as showing keen interest on people's involvement in the day-to-day affairs of education that has been consistently raised by ATSUM for the last couple of years.
Thomas also put across the Education Minister's enthusiasm in the affair by promising to take up the matter in the proposed construction of 10 residential schools in the hill districts while inviting feed back from ATSUM for the smooth completion of the chore.
Meanwhile, the ATSUM condemned the indiscriminate firing incident carry out by unknown gunmen yesterday at the residence of Manipur AIDS Control Society (MACS) director, TR Kom located at Laimainai under Lamphel police station.
