The medical team presently camping at the border town of Moreh in connection with the outbreak of Dengue have come across presence of Aedes, the mosquito that spread Dengue and its spawns in almost every households of Moreh Ward no.9 even as two patients suffering from suspected Dengue cases were brought to Imphal for treatment today.
Along with completion of fogging exercise today, the Health Department has appealed to all the people not to allow water logging or keep sealed water tanks which could serve as the breeding ground for Aedes mosquito which is responsible for spreading Dengue.
Talking to The Sangai Express, Health Minister Ph Parijat appealed to the people not to panic and extend their support and co-operation to the Government officials in taking up preventive measures and fighting against further outbreak of Dengue in the border town.
Explaining that the mosquito that spread Dengue bites human being only during daytime and not at night, the Minister informed that fogging of all the localities was done today and around 2000 mosquito nets would be distributed among the people of border town yesterday.
Meanwhile, the doctors of the National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme have reportedly detected presence of Aedes and its spawns in almost all the households of Moreh Ward No.9 during a survey today even as reports of similar presence are also coming in from Ward no.1, 2, 3 and 4.The first round of fogging was carried out today and the exercise would be repeated after 15 days.
A medical team led by Chief Medical Officer of Chandel today arrived at Moreh along with necessary medicines and equipments to fight spread of Dengue.
Two persons with symptoms of Dengue fever have been reportedly referred to Hospitals at Imphal for further treatment.
The identity of the two patients, however, could not be established at the time of filing this report.
