Imphal, November 08:
Taking a serious note of the absence of a Secretary in the Council of Higher Secondary Education (COHSEM), the DESAM has urged upon the Chief Minister and Education Minister to appoint a regular Secretary.
A press release issued by DESAM noted that the posts of Exam Controller, Deputy Controller and Secretary of BSEM and COHSEM are being manned by officials on 'look after' or 'in-charge' basis since a long time back.
Considering the busy schedule and increased work load with the approach examinations for Class X, XI and XII, DESAM expressed apprehension that the lack of regular Secretary may affect in conducting exams.
It also appealed to the State Government to do away with the practice of transferring/re-posting Secretaries and Controllers of BSEM and COHSEM after the exam processes have been initiated.
Alleging that the non-appointment of Secretary or Secretary in-charge for COHSEM is a big blunder on the part of the State Government, the student body urged upon the Government for immediate appointment of a regular Secretary.
