NH-37 bandh begins

The first day of 36 hours bandh along NH-37 called by Ngamkhei Kanba Lup, Jiribam witnessed destruction of several vehicles along the highway today.
Ngamkhei Kanba Lup, Jiribam has been imposing the bandh since last midnight demanding amicable settlement of boundary issue between Jiribam subdivision of Imphal East and Tamenglong district.
Bandh supporters stacked up woods along the highway at Leingangpokpi, the adjoining place of Jiribam subdivision and Tamenglong district today.
Besides, several vehicles including a DI Tata, two Dipper trucks of a company engaged in railway construction and an autorickshaw were damaged by bandh enforcers for violating the bandh call near Phaituol village.
Passengers as well as commercial items were pulled down from several vehicles of the security forces.
Meanwhile, bandh supporters have warned all vehicles including security vehicles to stop ferrying passengers and goods during the bandh duration.
