World Wild Life Day observed

Like in other parts of the world, World Wild Life Day was also observed at Manipur Zoological Garden here today.
The observance was attended by AK Rana, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, Government of Manipur as Chief Guest; RK Srivastava, Additional Principal Chief Conservation of Forests as President while Dr BN Mohanty, OSD (Forests & Environment), Government of Manipur and Th Ibobi, former Chief Wild Life Warden as Guests of Honour.
On the other hand, to mark the World Wildlife Day observance, People for Animals (PFA) Thoubal has released a young Barking Deer, a Snake and two Bengal Slow Lories rescued from different parts of the State at Selloi Langmai Ecological Park (ECO PARK), Laphupokpi.
A discussion on "benefits of conservation of wildlife" was also hosted at the office of ECO Park.
Thokchom Sanjit Singh, Pradhan of Naharup GP and members of Eastern Ecology Conservation Organisation took part in the discussion.
Meanwhile, expressing shock over the newspaper reports of wild birds and animals put up for open sell in Ukhrul, PFA has announced its decision of starting campaign at hill districts from April and sought the assistance and support of the Government and other authorities concerned in this regard.
