Incensed BJP supporters burn effigies, flags in Bishnupur

Bishnupur, January 30 2022:
Hours after BJP announced the list of candidates for the forthcoming Assembly election, irate party supporters on Sunday came out to protest the selection of candidates in various parts of Bishnupur district.
Unhappy with the selection of candidates in Moirang, Kumbi and Thanga Assembly Constituencies, angry supporters of aspiring candidates burnt party flags, posters and effigies of state BJP president A Sarda Devi and Chief Minister N Biren.
Addressing a public meeting, Moirang AC MLA Pukhrem Sharatchandra announced that BJP Moirang Mandal has been dissolved and that he would still contest the forthcoming assembly election from a National party.
The MLA continued that he would contest the ensuing election with the support of his Election Core Committee and the people of Moirang.
Meanwhile, a public meeting was also conducted at the residence of intending candidate Moirangthem Asnikumar in Keibul Mayai Leikai.
Supporters of M Asnikumar expressed displeasure over the unfair treatment meted out to the intending candidate who has been working tirelessly for the party and welfare of the people over the years.
They also announced that M Asnikumar would still contest the forthcoming election.
Moreover, ex-Minister Ningthoujam Mangi also announced that he would be contesting the ensuing election in Kumbi AC from a National party.
N Mangi made the statement while addressing a public meeting held at his residence in Kumbi.
