RK Nokul selected for ABI award, likely to miss due to financial shortage

Financial shortage is going to deprive the chance of a State biographer to claim the internationally acclaimed honour 'Gold Medal for India' award in the USA.
Biographer Nokul Singh Rajkumar, a resident of Sagolband Bijoy Govinda, has been selected by the American Biographical Institute to receive its internationally acclaimed award, 'Gold Medal for India' in recognition of his contribution for bettering the society.
Nokul Singh Rajkumar's stint with photography began in 1952 .
Then he started shooting film using 16mm camera in 1967 .
He was also presented a 35mm film camera by the National Small Scale Industries Cooperation, New Delhi.
The then Chief Minister RK Joychandra laid the foundation of Manipur Film Industry at his residence on August 14, 1988 .
He transferred his camera to the Manipur Film Development Corporation in 1991 as the film industry could not thrive due to financial shortage.
Then he shifted focus on printing technology, when at that time the offset printing was a distant dream.
He then compiled biographies of famous persons from each country, which was published by SA Biography International, New Delhi in 1993 .
In recognition of his work, Nokul Rajkumar has been nominated by the ABI to receive the award for India.
The award would be presented to 50 biographers in Raleigh, North Carolina, USA.
RK Nokul has been informed by the ABI to confirm his acceptance by August 28 .
He told The Sangai Express that he won't be able to claim the award due to financial shortage.
The ABI had awarded him with the Man of the Year Award in 1996 while he was also nominated for the ABI's Excellence Award which he could not claim.
The International Business Council had also acknowledged RK Nokul as the pioneer of documentary film, photography and printing in Manipur in 1985-86 .
He brought out the Khamba-Thoibi comic in 1982 .
