Imphal, March 11 2016 :
The United Naga Council (UNC) has accused the Ibobi led Congress Government of promoting ethnic divisions through its communal agendas and political policies, reports our Senapati correspondent.
A day after rife speculations of approving the creation of Jiribam and Sadar Hills districts did the round, the apex Naga body slammed the Government over recent incidents of ethnic killings and tensions at Satu Aimol village and the incidents at Chandel and Heirok.
The divisive policies and political agendum of the Government is directly promoting communal disharmony among different communities of the State, alleged UNC.
The UNC as a responsible people's institution will not remain silent over such attempts made by the State Government but react befittingly without compromising land, identity, rights and tribal welfare, it said.
It is now an open truth that the Manipur Government with its communal policies is attempting to incite ethnic hostilities among different communities through unwanted decisions and dangerous attempts to test people's patience.
The UNC warned that the Nagas and tribals of Manipur are committed to protect their own land, resources, identity, inalienable rights, traditions and its people.
Any untoward consequences erupting through the decision of the State Government over any common issue will be the sole responsibility of the present Government, it added.
