JAC to go ahead with highway bandh

The JAC formed against the arrest of three villagers of Namthanjang Rongmei village has announced its decision to go ahead with the proposed indefinite bandh along NH-37 from midnight of March 12 .
In a statement, the JAC said that essential services will be exempted from the purview of the bandh.
The JAC has been demanding immediate and unconditional release of three arrested villagers by the police.
It said that the three villagers� Namthangjang Church committee treasurer Gaikhanlung Gangmei (42), deacon Geihempou Kamei and Church secretary Namthanlung Riamei, were arrested by a team of Sapermeina police from Langjing when they were travelling in an auto-rickshaw at around 7 am of March 8 .
The charge frame against the three villagers was unfounded and they were falsely implicated.
There is not a shred of evidence to believe that the three persons had committed the offence as accused by the police, it said.
The JAC had earlier submitted a memorandum to the CM and DGP.
