The All Manipur United Clubs� Organization, AMUCO stated that it will observe June 18 next as a day to pay tribute on June 18 peoples� uprising and later the 4 persons including a woman killed in relation to the territorial integrity issue.
Stating that AMUCO announced a general strike in the state from June 15 to 18 last year after the NSCN (IM) and GoI reached an agreement extending their ceasefire in Manipur on June 14 last, it said that along with more than 100 organizations of the state protested against the ceasefire extension in Manipur.
The organization while stating that altogether 21 persons have sacrificed their lives on the territorial integrity issue since August 1997 last, stated that June 14 will be observed as a day against the divide and rule policy and disintegrating policies to the integrity of Manipur.
It also appealed to all clubs, organizations, student bodies and individuals to participate in the June 14 observation.
Floral tributes will be paid to the martyrs at the Kekrupat memorial and later a leaders' meet for all communities will be held at the GM hall, Imphal, an AMUCO release said.
