Rural Development Minister N Loken today sought the cooperation of NGOs and voluntary organizations in the Government's efforts to bring all round development in rural areas of Manipur.
He was speaking at the inaugural session of a two day seminar cum workshop for voluntary organizations at the State Youth Centre.
He regretted that squabbling over leadership has hampered the smooth functioning of voluntary organizations.
He appealed to them to work jointly under an able leadership for improving conditions at rural areas of the State.
L Biradhwaja Singh, member-convenor, CAPART Regional Committee, NE zone lauded the role of NGOs in Manipur in lifting condition of the people.
He also expressed happiness that many women NGOs have come up in the State in the last few years.
He urged the NGOs to bring a change to their operational setups and their working style for effective implementation of their programmes.
Prof N Mohendra of the Manipur University said three enemies, namely rural poverty, rural unemployment and rural disparity are to be fought successfully so as to bring all round development in rural areas of Manipur.
He regretted that the administrators seem to have forgotten to chalk out strategies to bring the economic movement forward for the public welfare.
"A hungry can not be entertained by a classical dance".
He urged the voluntary organizations to prepare projects only after surveying the ground realities.
