The research scholars of Manipur University have taken out the fuse from the power supply of the Administrative block to air their anger against the non-availability of electricity in the campus.
They have also locked the office of the VC Prof H Tombi in protest against the officials' failure to restore electricity in the campus within a given deadline.
The scholars have stated that they would be compelled to take up further agitations if their demands are not met immediately.
According to a source, the Electricity Department agreed to repair the transformer of the campus and asked MU to deposit Rs 30,000.The MU authorities had earlier blamed the Department for the delay in restoring power supply However, on investigations; it was found that the delay was not caused by the Electricity Department.
The source also mentioned that the University authorities have arranged the amount and is ready for sanction.
According to the students, even though there is money for repairing the transformer, its electrical parts have to be bought from Kolkata.
This will take a lot of days which will only cause more sufferings to the students.
