The Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh today assured the people of Sugnu constituency that their representative K Ranjit would be made a Minister in the SPF Government.
Inaugurating a primary health centre at Serou today Ibobi clarified that Ranjit, who had resigned as the Deputy Speaker could not take oath due to some misunderstanding although his name was listed in the second expansion.
Stating that his Government will complete the full term Ibobi promised that Ranjit would be made a Minister in the next expansion of his Ministry.
The health centre was constructed by the Family Welfare Department with financial assistance from the World Bank.
This health centre will now serve people in Serou and its surrounding areas, Ibobi said.
Seeking full cooperation of the local people to the staff members of the health centre the Chief Minister expressed un-happiness over the lack of necessary infrastructure at the time of the inauguration.
Ibobi, however, added that all the required infrastructure would be made available at the health centre within the next few days.
Works Minister Gaikhangam, who was the guest of honour at the function told the gathering that he had seen himself how had the road leading to Seroy, located at the extreme corner of the valley to the south.
"This road would be developed immediately," the Works Minister assured.
The Minister of State for Family Welfare, Bijoy Koijam presided over the function.
He informed that nurses and male health workers would be posted at the newly opened health centre with effect from tomorrow.
The MoS asked the health workers and nurses to serve the public with dedication.
Ibobi inspected the site of the proposed bridge across the Manipur River.
This bridge will connect Churachandpur and Thoubal districts.
It will also benefit the people of the area, the chief minister said.
Ibobi also inspected the Sugnu police station, from where the personnel were withdrawn after all the weapons of the personnel were snatched away by militants in 2000.He announced that the police station will soon be reopened.
It will be manned by personnel with the strength of a company.
Later speaking at a public meeting held at Sugnu bazar the Chief Minister expressed surprise when he learnt that there is no telephone connection in the area.
He promised a telephone exchange at the bazar.
He further said the Union Housing and Urban Development Ministry has given the nod to construct a super market at Sugnu bazar.
The local MLA promised the people of his constituency that he will take up development programmes at the constituency with his local area development fund.
He informed that a ching-tam community hall would be constructed with the first installment of the Rajya Sabha MP, Rishang Keishing's first local area development fund.
