Laying the foundation stone for building construction of Government Ideal Blind School at Welfare Complex, Takyel, estimated to cost Rs 71.64 lakhs today, Vivek Raj Wangkhem, Minister" Social Welfare said the physically challenged persons are possessing immense talents.
He assured all necessary assistance to lift the status of the persons at par with others in the society.
State Government had sanctioned Rs 30 lakhs for the construction having capacity to accommodate 100 students in 21 classrooms, said a press release of DIPR.
Handicapped persons registered with Composite Fitment and Rehabilitation Centre were presented aids and equipments like tricycle, wheel chair of both large and small size, auxiliary crutch and white canes on the occasion.
Besides presentation of a cultural item by students of Deaf and Mute School and Ideal Blind School a prize distribution ceremony to winners of the spot painting competition organized by voluntary agency Recreation, Moirangkhom Sougaijam Leirak yesterday was also held on the occasion.
Attending the function as president, M Nabadwip Singh, Minister PCS and MAHUD hailed the students for their enormous talent and the teachers for the untiring effort to provide the best platform for the deprived section of the society.
He also desired completion of the school building at the earliest.
