Around 70 goods laden trucks have been stranded at Senapati ground following imposition of indefinite economic blockade along the two National Highways passing through the State by Thadou Students' Association (TSA), Sadar Hills since 6 am of October 23, even as a constable who works as a fitter of the Central Motor Transports Workshop was hurt when suspected bandh supporters pelted stones.
The constable identified as K Kritmala Singh (32) of Yurenjam Mamang Leikai, who sustained injuries on his left eye is being hospitalised at the ENT ward of RIMS here.
The stone pelting incident reportedly occurred at around 11.30 pm yesterday just after around 200 goods laden trucks which were coming along with escort personnel passed the Sapermeina Police Station.
Kritmala was travelling in the last truck which bore the full impact of the attack.
As of today, there is no report of any damages caused to vehicles by the bandh supporters.
Meanwhile, justifying the demands of the Thadou Students' Association (TSA), Sadar Hills, TSA Headquarters has announced its decision of extending full support to the ongoing agitation.
Addressing a press conference at Kuki Inn here today, president TSA Headquarters H Marcel decried the alleged silence of the Govt to the justifiable demands of the student body like conversion of Sadar Hills into a full-fledged revenue district, providing necessary infrastructures to the Govt schools, appointment of adequate teachers, etc.
He also warned of intensifying the ongoing agitation if the Government continues to remain indifferent to these demands.
