Imphal, October 25:
Terming the charges of corruption levelled against the Social Welfare Department by an NGO in connection with the recent appointment of Supervisors and LDCs as unfortunate, Social Welfare Minister N Loken has clarified that even his own close relatives and family members who did not secure the required marks were not selected.
Talking to mediapersons at his office chamber today, Minister said that in order to ensure that th appointment of the Supervisors and LDCs were made in a free and fair manner, none of the officials of the Department had been included in the DPC Board and all the matters related to the conduct of the examination had been entrusted to the BSEM, which is an independent body.
In case any individual or organisation wants to know the truth, they may do so though the Right to Information (RTI) Act, the Minister noted, adding that issuing threat and giving undue pressures on the officials of the Dept and the Minister is not the right approach.
