Imphal, October 25:
FCS Minister Yumkham Erabot has informed that one District Supply Officer (DSO) who was found involved in siphoning Kerosene meant for distribution under the Public Distribution System would be suspended from service and the case related to transportation of stolen FCS rice for selling outside Manipur has been handed over to the Vigilance for further investigation.
Talking to mediapersons at his Babupara official residence today, Erabot informed that out of 422 KL of Kerosene quota allocated for the month of September for Imphal West, only 395 KL of Kerosene had been lifted.
But out of the total 395 KL of Kerosene lifted only 21 KL had been made available to the people.
However, during the course of investigation, DSO Imphal West Iboton disclosed that the rest of the Kerosene quota had been taken away by underground activists, the Minister said, adding that since the involvement of the DSO has been confirmed in connection with the missing Kerosene quota, steps have been taken up to suspend the officer.
Action to be taken up against the guilty officials will not end only with suspension from service but further investigation would be conducted, the Minister stated categorically.
Deputy Commissioner of Imphal West has also been instructed to suspend one peon of the FCS attached with the DC office for his alleged involvement in siphoning of the Kerosene quota, the Minister further said.
The peon identified as Majid forged the signature of the official concerned and siphoned off the Kerosene meant for distribution to the people, the Minister disclosed.
The Minister further informed that the case related to intercepting nine trucks laden with stolen FCS rice by the police at Nungba while being taken to Silchar has been handed over to the Vigilance for further investigation.
The Minister himself had gone to Nungba on October 23 to investigate the matter.
The rice has been deposited at the FCS godown there.
